Crescent Creek Angus was founded by the late Mike Olynyk and his wife Irene in 1952 when the first Angus bull was purchased and went on to be used on commercial cows. One year later the first purebred females would be added. 60 years later the herd has grown to over 200 breeding females (150 black - 60 red). The herd is presently owned by Wes & Kim Olynyk and their children Orie, Danny, Katie and Wade. The children represent the fifth generation of the Olynyk homestead. Irene still has a very active role in the cattle operation.
Our main goal at Crescent Creek is to raise functional Angus cattle that excel in the important traits of the beef business. Ease of calving, with performance and longevity. We feel after 60 years breeding these types of cattle our program has become very accepted by our customers. We sell our cattle through our Bull and Female Sale the second Monday of April every year. 2010 will mark our 12th Annual Sale. Customer satisfaction is key to our success thus we need to know our customers needs. If planning a visit to our farm you will find cows of moderate size with large numbers of half sisters, we believe in walking herd bulls for many years, thus breeding large cow families. Our bull are full of red meat and muscle. They are not highly fitted and must have large testicles, good feet and temperament.
Recently we have undertaken a very aggressive embryo transfer program. This will allow us to strengthen our elite cow families. The future looks bright for the beef business and we intend to be around for a long time to come. Stop by for a visit or contact us at any time. The Olynyks
